If you’re clowning over the upcoming Fallout Day, I wouldn’t if I were you.

It’s been confirmed by Bethesda that Fallout Day is coming on 23 October at 10am PST / 1pm EST / 6pm BST.

If you’re expecting new game announcements though, I’m going to tell you now to temper your expectations.

Why? Well, you need only read the official description of Fallout Day over on the franchise’s social media accounts.

“Save the date! Our annual Fallout Day broadcast will be streaming live on October 23rd at 1pm ET, with the Fallout For Hope post-show immediately following,” the post began.

“Tune in for the latest news about our existing Fallout games, community celebrations, and upcoming fan events!”

As I’m sure you’ve now noticed, the key phrase here is “existing games”.

And by that, I’m sure Bethesda probably just means Fallout 76 because I can’t imagine we’re going to see much else new for Fallout 4.

The game’s new-gen update landed in April 2024 but we’ve not seen any new content beyond that for a good long while.

It’s nice that Bethesda has confirmed that we need to temper our expectations, but we probably should have known that anyway.

If Bethesda was to, say, announce Fallout 5, which I doubt it’s going to while we’re still in the dark about The Elder Scrolls VI, it would do so on a major stage like The Game Awards.

It’s too big of an occasion to only be seen by certain fans tuning into a community livestream; Bethesda would want the world’s eyes on the announcement.

And like I said, Bethesda is obviously beavering away on The Elder Scrolls VI, so it’s not exactly got a ton of time to dedicate to Fallout 5 yet.

Even still, the reminder that Fallout Day is going to be something of, as Reddit user VanillaChurr-oh puts it, “a nothing burger”, has left many fans feeling disappointed.

“I'm sure it's the Ohio update on 76 that'll be it,” reasoned user SmeagolChokesDeagol.

They’re referring to the recently unveiled ‘Burning Springs’ which’ll see Walton Goggins’ Ghoul from the Prime Video Fallout TV series make his video game debut.

“So it was an announcement to announce an announcement on the 23rd?” Enough_Internal_9025 replied.

“I’m so f**kin sick of Bethesda man. Just starving us on Fallout content,” declared TheAmazingScamArtist.

Exciting-Ad-5705 made a good point: “How do you think Elder Scrolls fans feel? You got an entire TV show.”

Who knows? Perhaps we will be happy and we’ll get a surprise Fallout 3 remaster and an unexpected Fallout 4 DLC.

Uh oh, perhaps now I’m clowning.
