The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind is now playable inside Fallout 4, because why not, right?
Morrowind has always been a beloved Elder Scrolls title but it’s been nice to see the game getting so much more love as of late.
Perhaps it was the game’s 24th anniversary earlier this month that put it back on gamers’ radars, or perhaps it was the surprise PlayStation port people managed to get working on the PS5.
Whatever the case, it’s been nice to see it back in the mainstream and while a remaster akin to The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered probably isn’t on the cards, this Fallout 4 port will do for now.
That’s right, we got Morrowind playable entirely within Fallout 4 before an official PS5 port, let that sink in.

The mad modding community has struck again with the Morrowind - Pip-Boy Edition mod made by RPGKing117.
It does exactly what it says on the tin and adds a holotape to Fallout 4 that - when inserted into the Pip-Boy will let wastelanders start a new RPG adventure in an entirely different Bethesda game.
RPGKing117 explains in the mod’s description that it “streams The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind live into the Fallout 4 Pip-Boy screen using a custom-modified build of OpenMW 0.50 — bridged directly into the game engine via shared memory and a dedicated F4SE plugin.”
Our headcanon for this is that Vault-Tec were pioneers of the video game industry in addition to nuclear bunkers and world-ending conspiracies, but with companies like Xbox and PlayStation, their Fallout version of Morrowind was made as a Pip-Boy exclusive.
If you’re keen to see how Morrowind plays when streamed through Fallout 4, there’s a solid video on the mod by Micky D on YouTube.
Long story short, it plays as well as you might expect. It’s a far cry from the ideal way to play Morrowind but for the novelty alone, this mod is still worth checking out for yourself. We’re expecting entire playthroughs to be completed just for a laugh.
Those who download the mod for themselves can find instructions on the mod page on how to actually acquire the Morrowind holotape. It’s not as simple as just grabbing it from a nearby house like so many other mods.
This has to be one of the wildest fan-made expansions we’ve seen for a game this year, and arguably the wildest we’ve seen for Fallout 4 since the game first came out.
It’s an inspired idea and we hope to see many more games made playable on Fallout 4’s Pip-Boy in the future. It feels like there’s a lot of potential here for some funny and creative ideas.
One we’d be eager to see happen is the OG Doom game playable in Fallout 4 if it’s not already, adding yet another way to play Doom Guy’s first outing to a very long list.
