Bloodborne Free Gameplay Overhaul Will Make Your Next Playthrough More Dramatic

Bloodborne fans can now tuck into a new gameplay overhaul, and it’s sure to spice up your next playthrough.
Often considered one of the greatest games of all time, Bloodborne seems to have a lot of the juice that keeps fans coming back periodically to replay the game.
While Sony and FromSoftware don’t seem interested in making a follow-up, players around the world have kept the game’s spirit alive with community events, fan-made art, and mods.
Remixed Trick Weapons is the latest mod to grace the Bloodborne page on Nexus Mods, offering a new way to play for those revisiting the game on their dozenth playthrough.

The mod makes some changes to the Burial Blade, Moonlight Greatsword, and Rifle Spear, tweaking basic movesets so that they're a little more interesting.
“Bloodborne has a superb suite of weapons that, for the most part, feel very fun and satisfying to use, yet, on the other hand, I also felt that a couple weapons were a little half-baked or were missing something,” reads the description of the mod by saucyjak.
“After spending some time deciphering a bit about how animations and overrides work, I managed to swap some moves around to make the non-tricked movesets of the Burial Blade, Moonlight Greatsword, and Rifle Spear, more dynamic and entertaining to use.”
Breaking it down further, one-handed attacks from the Burial Blade have been fitted with animations from other weapons to “make it feel more dexterous and dangerous.”
The Burial Blade also has new special attacks and transformations, utilising the same effects as the Blade of Mercy, because “it looked cooler with the sparkly, bluish trail.”
Meanwhile, the Moonlight Greatsword’s basic moveset has been revamped to be “more dynamic than before”, while the Rifle Spear has been tweaked to include a few more sweeping attacks in its one-handed moveset.
The Rifle Spear also has had a few audio changes, replacing its sounds to feel weightier when attacking and "less like a pair of scissors when using it.”

The catch behind this is that you need to be playing Bloodborne on a certain type of hardware. Either a modded PS4 or on PC via ShadPS4 will do. You’ll also need a legit copy of the game as well.
If you don’t have access to either of these methods, mods won’t run on your copy of Bloodborne, I’m afraid.
If you’re a Bloodborne fan and want something new from FromSoftware, the developer is due to release its multiplayer spiritual successor, The Duskbloods, on Nintendo Switch 2 sometime in 2026.
The Duskbloods features both PvP and PvE gameplay as players choose from a variety of different vampire-like characters who compete across various maps.
Its aesthetics are inspired by Gothic and Victorian architecture, which is how the game initially drew comparisons with Bloodborne, even though the gameplay is much different.
