Baldur's Gate 3's weirdest romance option makes the bear look normal

Baldur's Gate 3 has a weirder romance option than the bear, and we have a lot of questions.

Baldur’s Gate 3 has added yet another absurd romance option to the list, and this time, it’s stranger than the bear you can boink.

Since its release on PC, Baldur’s Gate 3 has blown players away with the amount of freedom they have to make their own adventure.

Check out the launch trailer for the game below.

For the time being, only PC players can get in on the fun, with PlayStation players having to wait a bit longer for their version next month, and Xbox waiting indefinitely due to hardware complications with their port.

Despite its temporary exclusivity, it dominated the charts, overtaking Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom to become the highest-rated game of 2023, giving Hogwarts Legacy a run for its money in concurrent Steam users, and is even on track to be a Game Of The Year contender.

It truly is an RPG unlike anything we’ve seen before, but aside from countless customisation, location and dialogue options, it’s the romanceable partners that have everybody talking. You meet several worthy lovers during your travels, ranging from normal folk to animals, and now, eldritch terrors.

That’s right, if you’re open-minded and willing to put the work in, you can romance the squid-like Mind Flayers. The Mind Flayers are odd beings who are very powerful and covered in tentacles, if that’s your thing. They’re encountered towards the end of Act Two and are hilariously surprised when you want to romance one of them. Upon meeting them, you’re given several options, one of which is to hug them, and they’re obviously starved of affection because if you do, you’re on track to getting it on.

As weird as it is, it’s hardly a surprise for Baldur’s Gate 3. The game made headlines recently for being able to romance someone that can morph into a bear, we’re not judging though ... Well, maybe we are.

If Baldur’s Gate 3’s bizarre romance options have gotten you interested, it’s available on PC right now, and will drop on the PS5 in September.
