There won't ever be a game that captures the essence of Zelda quite like the real thing, but some developers get pretty close. With that in mind, a new offering on Switch should do more than enough to warrant a playthrough for any fan of the Legend of Zelda series.
Mina the Hollower is an upcoming 2D action-adventure that should look immediately recognisable to anyone who played the earliest Zelda games (though undoubtedly with a shiny new coat of paint). The story follows the titular Mina, a mouse, as she attempts to save a cursed island from its terrible fate.
It's the latest release from developer Yacht Club Games, most well known for spectacular platform release Shovel Knight in 2014. It's their first totally new game since that release, with the company instead focusing on further content and support for Shovel Knight in the intervening period.
As first reported by Nintendo Life, a demo is now available to download on the Switch 2 that allows you to play through the game's opening missions. In even better news, you will be able to carry your data over when the game releases on 31 October if you don't fancy starting again.

The game features highly detailed 8-bit visuals and an arsenal of weapons that allow for a bunch of different ways to approach boss fights. Sharing some further details on Mina the Hollower, Yacht Club Games shared a few details:
"Descend into a frightful world of action-adventure as Mina, a renowned Hollower, on a desperate mission to rescue a cursed island. Burrow beneath hazards and monsters, whip foes into oblivion, and gear up with an arsenal of sidearms and trinkets."
PC players don't currently have access to the demo, with no word yet from the developer on when they plan to do so. The release date for the 1.0 version is the same as the Switch though, with a full launch on 31 October.
