It’s not long until Pokémon fans can get their hands on the new game, and in the last couple of weeks demo stations have seen countless visits, leading to huge amounts of excitement.

Pokémon Legends: Z-A has debuted at both the Pokémon World Championships and Gamescom allowing fans to try out a section of the game running on Nintendo Switch 2.

Early opinions are suggesting that this could be the game Pokémon fans have waited so long for, and one that takes advantage of the better hardware available.

Nintenduo World managed to capture 4K footage from the game over on YouTube, and it’s safe to say everyone is impressed.

On Twitter, one fan notes, “Lumiose City may be very boxy and bland, but I love the lighting at night. The moon with the tower on the water is nice. AND THE SOUNDS - just like walking through Hisui in PLA.”

It certainly does look impressive, and very pretty in places, too. Hopefully, the Nintendo Switch 2 is pushing Game Freak to create more immersive moments for the franchise.

A lot of care and attention has been given to the character models, and the Pokémon themselves, of course.

This hasn’t gone unnoticed by those who played the game, and those watching on YouTube.

“Glad to see that they improved the lighting of the characters and Pokémon,” said one player in the video comments.

Back on Twitter, another fan said, “Honestly, the game looks really good on Switch 2 and is buttery smooth too!”

Pokémon Legends: Z-A launces on 16 October 2025, and it will be interesting to see how it runs on the original Switch console.

Taking the action to the city, rather the wilds, will be a unique choice here and one that could work out if there’s plenty to keep fans busy.
