Pokémon Gen 10 Starters Teased in Major Leak

Proceed with caution

Pokémon fans be warned, but spoilers for the next generation appear to have surfaced online, including the starters that may be included in the next game.

Although we’re not quite done with Pokémon Gen 9, leaks and rumours surrounding the next generation have continued to surface over the last few months.

Fans believe that 2026 will be the year that we hear more about that, following Game Freak’s release of Pokémon Legends: Z-A later this month.

A new leak has occurred this week that has revealed potential Gen 10 spoilers, including the starter Pokémon for the next game. As always, be sure to take the following information with a grain of salt.

As shared by Centro Leaks, a Pokémon insider who has had a pretty decent track record in the past, the next game in the franchise will be titled Pokémon Wind and Pokémon Waves.

It’ll also apparently be directed by Shigeru Ohmori, which comes as no surprise really considering he’s directed or produced pretty much every Pokémon game for the past decade.

In addition to these leaks, we appear to also have some information about the starters in the next game.

While Centro Leaks does not claim to know the exact Pokémon who will be headlining Gen 10, they do claim to know a little more about how the starters will be obtained.

It seems that the game will open with the protagonist arriving on an island where a majority of the game will take place, only to find that the city streets are jammed. This is due to the fact that different Pokémon have escaped, and it’s cluttering up the traffic.

Apparently, the protagonist will then be tasked with chasing down some Pokémon, where you then see the starter three dash off and you must catch one. According to Centro Leaks, this will be the event where you can choose your starter.

Other nuggets of information revealed by Centro Leaks suggests that the central theme of the game will be about Infinity, and that this will tie into a gameplay mechanic where the new region will be procedurally generated and is constantly changing on an infinite loop.

It’s very likely that Game Freak was waiting until after the release of Pokémon Legends: Z-A before revealing Gen 10, likely on Pokémon Day which traditionally takes place in February. Until that time, be sure to not take these leaks as gospel.
