Palworld teased for the last console we'd ever have expected

Could Palworld be released on the Nintendo Switch?

In case you’ve been living under a rock for the first few months of 2024, the chances are that you have heard of the Pokémon-inspired MMO Palworld.

Developed and published by Pocket Pair, Palworld is currently available on PC, Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One. Other than its creature design and the premise of capturing and training, Palworld perhaps shares greater similarities with the likes of Ark: Survival Evolved and Valheim than it does with Pokémon, with its emphasis on crafting and surviving in its open world.

Check out the Palworld trailer below!

In our review of Palworld, we said: “It’s astonishing how much has been packed into Palworld given its Early Access status. Sure, the developers will probably expand the world, add in more Pals, and grow the story, too. But what we have here is already great, and features so many small details you’ll be amazed at what you discover. It’s a little rough around the edges in places, but the blueprint and starting product are more than enough to keep you going.”

At the time of writing, the arrival of the most popular MMO of 2024 so far hasn't been announced for the blue brand as much as fans would love to see Palworld on PlayStation. However, it’s been teased that Palworld might arrive on other platforms and that may include the Nintendo Switch. When talking to Bloomberg, Pocket Pair CEO Takuro Mizobe teased that the MMO might soon arrive on other platforms.

While no exact platforms were mentioned, it’s safe to assume that Mizobe would likely be referring to PlayStation and perhaps even the Nintendo Switch. “We are and will remain a small studio. I want to make multiple small games. Big-budget triple-A games are not for us,” teased Mizobe.

Will the Nintendo Switch be capable of running an MMO such as Palworld to an acceptable level? Only time will tell. That being said, the more people that can enjoy games such as Palworld, the merrier. Palworld is currently available to Xbox Game Pass subscribers at no extra cost.
