Nintendo has released a final wave of Pokémon freebies today, available for you to grab on Switch or Switch 2.
27 February marks Pokémon Day, an annual celebration of the series that usually comes with new announcements and releases, but this year also marks the franchise’s 30th anniversary.
While it’s almost certain we’re going to see a proper Gen 10 tease, Nintendo has started the celebrations early by releasing the next batch of Pokémon Legends: Z-A freebies for all Switch and Switch 2 users.
As reported by NSO Icon Alerts, Nintendo has released a fresh batch of icons for Nintendo Switch Online users, apparently the “final wave” of icons available on the service.

The icons include several of the NPCs seen in Pokémon Legends: Z-A, along with clean sprites of Pokémon like Floette, Feraligatr, Gardevoir, and Mega Zygarde.

Meanwhile, a selection of four backgrounds can also be added to your account, each one offering a slightly different flavour while retaining that Pokémon vibe.
These icons have been made available today, and can be claimed over the next week. So you’ve got time to collect Platinum Points if you need to get more.
In total, you’ll need 130 Platinum Points to claim each item available in this drop, which should be pretty easy to get over the next week.
How To Claim New Pokémon Themed Icons On Nintendo Switch Or Nintendo Switch 2
To claim these items, first you need to boot up your Nintendo Switch or Switch 2, then find the Nintendo Switch Online app on the home screen. Once you’re in here, head to Missions & Rewards, then find the icons under rewards.
This section of the app is also where you can find different activities to do in order to earn more Platinum Points, which can be used to redeem icons for use on your profile.
Pokémon Legends: Z-A originally released in October last year, and was met with positive coverage from critics, though some weren’t as keen on the exploration and side content.
In GAMINGbible’s own review, our Sam Cawley wrote that it is “a fantastic Pokémon game” and “it feels like the continuation Pokémon X & Y needed but never got”.
As for what's next for Pokémon, we'll hold tight for 27 February where we're likely going to get a whole load of news about the next generation of the franchise.
