Nintendo Switch Confirms 3 New Resident Evil Releases

And no cloud versions!

The Nintendo Switch 2 is not getting just one Resident Evil game, but there will be three coming next year.

Announced during the recent Nintendo Direct event, rumours were confirmed that Resident Evil Requiem is coming to the Nintendo Switch 2. But that is not all, because so are 2017’s Resident Evil 7: Biohazard and 2021’s Resident Evil Village.

Now we can be chased by the likes of Jack Baker and Lady Dimitrescu on the go, happy days. However, I’m not sure if I’m overly keen on that sinister baby creature from Resident Evil Village haunting me everywhere I go (if you know, you know).

If you’ve got a case of deja vu, then there’s a good reason why, because both Resident Evil 7: Biohazard and Resident Evil Village have previously been released on the original Nintendo Switch system.

However, both were cloud versions that weren't the best quality, especially if you never had a top-notch internet connection, and they certainly weren't ideal for playing on the go.

Thankfully, both of these newer versions are direct downloads, so you can play Resident Evil 7: Biohazard and Resident Evil Village without the concern of your internet dropping. Unless it annoyingly happens when downloading the games, of course.

What’s more, it was confirmed that Resident Evil Requiem is also headed to the Nintendo Switch 2, and it will launch alongside the PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S versions.

In my hands-on preview, I said: “This demo left me terrified and wanting more. If this demo sets the tone for what’s to come in the full game, Resident Evil Requiem has the potential to be the scariest game in the series.”

We were also treated to a new gameplay trailer, featuring Grace Ashcroft and her mother, Alyssa, a popular character from the Resident Evil Outbreak games.

In the trailer, we saw gameplay footage of Grace and Alyssa exploring a creepy building, likely trying to escape from horrific creatures. As we’ve seen in a previous trailer, these events appear to take place during a time earlier in Grace’s life.

Jumping forward a little to an older Grace, as an FBI agent, she’s investigating a crime scene before we jump to the abandoned hospital that featured in the preview. We also saw a glimpse of a new enemy staggering about in a hall, which could be a zombie. Oh, and we got to see a snippet of what could be a new antagonist.

Resident Evil 7: Biohazard, Resident Evil Village and Resident Evil Requiem will all be released on the Nintendo Switch 2 on 27 February 2026.
