Resident Evil Requiem looks to be releasing on the last console we’d expect, and we’re all for it.
As we edge closer to the release of Resident Evil Requiem, anticipation increases with players returning to Raccoon City, roughly 30 years after it was nuked by the government in an attempt to cover up the catastrophic T-Virus outbreak caused by the sinister Umbrella Corp.
In Resident Evil Requiem, we play as Grace Ashcroft, the daughter of Alyssa Ashcroft from the cult-classic co-op multiplayer two-part series, Resident Evil Outbreak.
In my hands-on preview with Resident Evil Requiem, I was blown away by the tension it garnered in the hour or so I spent with the game. If those impressions are anything to go by, it could be the scariest game in the beloved Capcom series.

As it stands, Resident Evil Requiem is releasing on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. However, rumours currently circulating claim that it might have at least two more surprise platforms.
Video game industry insider and leaker of information, AestheticGamer, aka Dusk Golem, claims to have heard of at least five individuals in the know that Resident Evil Requiem is not only coming to the Nintendo Switch 2 but also the last-gen PlayStation 4.
If I remember correctly, before the release of the 2023 Resident Evil 4 remake, at least publicly, it was not intended to be released on PlayStation 4. Yet, it did, alongside the current-gen versions, but sadly not on Xbox One.
“Resident Evil Requiem should be released on PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch 2,” said Dusk Golem, as brought to our attention by Redditor MXHombre123.

“Five different people in the last few weeks, and another guy with a good reputation said as much less than a week ago. So, not from me, but I have been hearing the same thing,” he said.

“Unsure if it'll be at launch, and my guess is it'll be a different version with different tech,” suggesting that the PlayStation 4 version may be missing features such as ray tracing. There is no mention of Xbox One, again.
Of course, we should always take unconfirmed rumours with a pinch of salt until proven otherwise.
I think it’s good news that PlayStation 4 gamers won't be left behind, as long as its development doesn't hinder the quality of the current-gen versions. What’s more, the prospect of playing Resident Evil Requiem on the go really makes me want a Nintendo Switch 2.
Resident Evil Requiem is currently scheduled to be released on 27 February 2026.
