The epic Resident Evil 4 remake is being review bombed by disgruntled gamers. Like seriously, don’t make me come at you with my chainsaw controller.

The Resident Evil 4 remake was released this month and was met with high critical acclaim and has already established itself as one of the strong contenders for Game of the Year in 2023. Yet, some think differently and that’s fine, we all have different opinions.

2023’s Resident Evil 4 is a remake of the 2005 original that was originally released for the Nintendo GameCube. At the time, while losing much of its survival horror identity, it cemented itself as one of the greatest games of all time.

However, as reported by Game Rant, while the critic scores on Metacritic currently sit above 90 for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, the user scores tell a very different story.

Starting from the highest to lowest, the Resident Evil 4 remake has quite an underwhelming score of 7.1 on PS5. But it gets worse. On PC it scored 5.5 and 5.2 on Xbox Series X|S. Lastly, PS4 users have scored it a lowly 4.6.

So why have gamers been reviewing bombing the Resident Evil 4 remake? Well, it can be for a multitude of reasons, whether you agree with them or not. Disappointment ranges from performance issues, controls, content being cut or not liking the newly added content, we could go on.

One particular user that gave it a 0, said: “Bad game, like an old-generation game. I wasted my time and money. Unfortunately, it wasn't even close to the original. Capcom is going backwards. Copy-paste game.” Ok, I get that they don’t like it, but does it really justify a zero?

In truth, the OG Resident Evil 4 is a much-beloved game and many would have been against its release, even if it came bundled with a real-life dancing Carlton Banks. At the end of the day, we all have different opinions and not everyone will always agree.

In our review of the Resident Evil 4 remake, our reviewer James Daly said it’s a “brilliant action-horror game and I’ll no doubt play through it multiple times over the coming months.” Resident Evil 4 will be released on 24 March 2023 for PC, PlayStation and Xbox Series X/S.
