In recent years, Nintendo has made an effort to reintroduce some classic titles to the Nintendo Switch and fans are over the moon that the trend is continuing with this exciting return.

First released way back in 2004 for the GameCube, Metroid Prime 2: Echoes is the sequel to 2002’s Metroid Prime and the first in the series to introduce multiplayer.

Check out the trailer for Metroid Prime Remastered below!

The story follows bounty hunter Samus Aran after she is sent on a rescue mission to retrieve the Galactic Federation Marines from a ship near Aether.

However, she soon discovers that this planet is inhabited by a race known as the Luminoth and they are less than happy to be disturbed.

With the inclusion of Space Pirates and even a mysterious doppelgänger of Samus herself, the bounty hunter must fight in order to rescue the marines and save herself.

Upon its release twenty-years ago, Metroid Prime 2 went on to win multiple game industry awards and is regularly featured in the “top Nintendo games”.

That is why it is perhaps no surprise that Metroid Prime 2 will soon receive a remaster for the Nintendo Switch in early 2025.

This news comes from insider and Metroid fan Samus Hunter over on Twitter.

In a reply to the announcement of the Metroid Prime 1-3: A Visual Retrospective art book, the insider had the following to say:

“About [Metroid 2] Remastered, I can confirm what Grubb mentioned, it was planned as a stand alone release but got moved a couple of times and now is planned for early next year, likely between DKCRHD and Xenoblade X…

Personally I wouldn't rule out an announcement of them at TGA, as timing would fit, but I have no information on that.”

As you can imagine, the news soon travelled and was recently discussed over on r/GamingLeaksAndRumours.

“I hope this ends up being true and that they're also remastering Prime 3. I've never played any of the Metroid Prime games, and would love to be able to play all of them on one console. Prime 4 does look like it's going to be really good,” one comment read.

Another said: “I have been dying to replay Prime 2 all year for its 20th anniversary but held off for the potential remaster. Really hope my wait is worth it (if this is true).”

Although this is still just a rumour, what we do know is that we can expect Metroid Prime 4: Beyond in the new year so it is an exciting time nonetheless.
