A new update has landed for both Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 systems, so it’s time to check whether your console is up to date.
This time, it’s Version 20.5.0 that you’ll want to have installed.
As for what it entails, well, I’m afraid there’s nothing revolutionary or enticing on offer this time around.
Instead, the update focuses on making stability improvements; arguably the dullest type of system update you can get.

If you want the official patch notes, I’ve included those below.
They read as follows: “General system stability improvements to enhance the user's experience.”
See? I told you. Nothing too exciting here but it’s still important to make sure that you have this update installed so that you don’t experience anything odd whilst gaming on your Switch or Switch 2.
I won’t continue to waffle on about system improvements; you know all you need to.

I would, however, like to take this opportunity to remind you just what a stacked remainder of 2025 Nintendo has.
The release of Super Mario Galaxy + Super Mario Galaxy 2 is right around the corner, with these two beloved gems due to return on 2 October.
Beyond that, Pokémon Legends: Z-A will land on 16 October.
The fun then continues with Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment on 6 November and Kirby Air Riders on 20 November.

Finally, December will bring us the long-awaited arrival of Metroid Prime 4: Beyond.
I did say it was a stacked line-up.
Here at GAMINGbible, we’ve already had the opportunity to go hands-on with both Pokémon Legends: Z-A and Kirby Air Riders.
Of the former, GAMINGbible’s Sam Cawley said, “All in all, I enjoyed my second go at Pokémon Legends: Z-A. After getting a broader experience than the Gamescom demo, it feels like a natural evolution of the mechanics found in Legends: Arceus and reimplemented into Pokémon Scarlet & Violet. That said, it still feels like there’s work to be done, and unless the full game convinces me otherwise, we might have to wait until a third Legends game to see these new gameplay mechanics truly mastered.”

As for Kirby Air Riders, he had this to say: “Kirby Air Riders was so much fun that I booted up my GameCube when I got home from Gamescom to play the original, and I’m hoping it’ll be added to Nintendo Switch Online soon so players can get a taste of what’s to come when the sequel drops in November.”
Plenty to look forward to.
