Two absolute bangers are about to drop on Nintendo Switch 2, and some of you will even be lucky enough to get them for the low, low price of free.
If you ask me, the Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive library is looking a little weak at the moment. Obviously the console is barely four months old and a bunch of stuff is on the way, but I still think you’d be justified in waiting until the library is more fleshed out before upgrading.
Thankfully, it is, of course, backwards compatible with the majority of Nintendo Switch titles, and Nintendo are being relatively swift about releasing Switch 2 upgrades for pre-existing games.
Speaking of, two more free Nintendo Switch 2 upgrades are landing in the next few days, and they are heaters. In fact, one of them is probably the best indie game I’ve played in 2025.

Thank you in advance to Comicbook’s Tyler Fischer for the source!
So, first up, you've got Factorio, the 2020 construction sim and timesink from developer and publisher Wube Software.
If you’ve played Factorio before, I probably don’t have to warn you about the dangers of trying this one out for yourself. I cannot stress enough how much time this game will sap from you if you let it. I think I played it for close to a hundred hours before I had to stop myself, because I realised that I would play nothing else but Factorio if I let it consume me any further.
Also, am I the only one who didn’t realise the console port of this one is exclusive to the Nintendo Switch? I suppose it makes sense considering it’s a great game to play on the go, but I’m still surprised that a PlayStation/Xbox port never materialised.

And finally, the game I have been incessantly waffling to all of my friends about all month: Ball x Pit, the Vampire Survivors x Breakout x Space Invaders roguelike developed by Kenny Sun and Devolver Digital.
Much like Factorio, I saw the warning signs when it came to Ball x Pit. I knew I was going to spend countless late nights telling myself “just one more run” over and over again if I continued playing, but unlike Factorio… I’ve opted to embrace the call of the void.
I have pretty much played nothing except Ball x Pit for the past couple of weeks. The gameplay loop is just so good, as you are constantly succeeding in upgrading something or unlocking some new kind of tech every single run, and I cannot get enough of it.

Weirdly, as of writing, Ball x Pit has only been out on the OG Nintendo Switch for about 12 days, which makes me wonder why the Switch 2 upgrade is following so close to its original release. Maybe so that dorks like me write a news article about it? Devolver Digital, you geniuses.
