It is hard to believe but there are just two days to go until Hollow Knight: Silksong is finally released.
With the highly-anticipated sequel to 2017’s Hollow Knight becoming something of a meme in recent years thanks to its lack of release date or even any updates, the wait is almost finally over.
Last month’s Gamescom event saw Team Cherry almost break the internet by revealing that Hollow Knight: Silksong would be released on 4 September 2025.
Arriving on PlayStation, Xbox, PC and Nintendo Switch, a recent announcement by Team Cherry spells good news for those diving into the Metroidvania on the Nintendo Switch 2.

In a Kickstarter post, Team Cherry revealed that a Hollow Knight: Silksong upgrade pack would be free to download on the Nintendo Switch 2 following the game’s launch on Thursday.
Available for free on the Nintendo Switch eShop, the free upgrade pack will “unlock the platform’s enhanced features”.
This can be redeemed once players have entered their Nintendo Switch key and downloaded the game.
It is unclear what these “enhanced features” are but with it being free to download, you are not losing anything by making the most out of this epic deal.

Hollow Knight: Silksong will be released at 3pm UK time this Thursday and in the same Kickstarter post, Team Cherry reminds Nintendo Switch backers that codes for the game will be sent out via email but will not be redeemable until the title has been released in their region.
Thanks to Silksong being a Kickstarter campaign, no early copies of the game have been sent out for reviews so, on this rare occasion, we will all be going into the highly-anticipated sequel together.
However, with early Gamescom previews claiming that Hollow Knight: Silksong is even better than its predecessor, it is already shaping up to be a possible Game of the Year contender.
