First launched over two years ago, Pikmin 4 was the fourth main instalment in the beloved Pikmin franchise developed by Nintendo EPD and Eighting.

The real-time strategy title was met with positive reviews from both critics and the general audience with praise for its level design, visuals, music and abundance of content.

Selling over three million copies worldwide, Pikmin 4 quickly became the best-selling game of the franchise and now it seems as though Nintendo is far from done with the 2023 hit.

Set to launch this November, Pikmin 4 will welcome its free update which will see you rescue beloved Corps members.

Announced on the official Nintendo UK Twitter account alongside a teaser trailer, we can now see what the free update will include.

As soon as the update goes live, players will gain access to a brand-new Photo Mode which will allow you to snap pics all throughout your journey courtesy of the Field Camera.

Not only that but you will be able to customise your images with stamps, stickers and frames.

Alongside the new Photo Mode, you will now be able to stumble across decorative Pikmin which will be hiding in all sorts of different spots.

However, if you are unable to find them, the game will offer you handy tips on their location.

Once discovered, the tiny Pikmin will join your ever-growing squad. Additionally, you can send your collected Pikmin to Pikmin Bloom on your smart devices.

Also arriving to Pikmin 4 is a brand-new ‘Relaxed’ mode which reads as follows: “Creatures will be relaxed and easy to defeat. They won’t attack you if you don’t bother them.”

This will allow you to explore the world and even take snaps of some of the biggest enemies without having them attack you.

On the other hand, the new ‘Fierce’ difficulty will offer the complete opposite experience with harder enemies and hostile wildlife.

This free Pikmin 4 update arrives on the Nintendo Switch this November and players can even dive into a demo featuring all this new content at the same time.
