The first title for the Nintendo Switch 2 has seemingly been confirmed and it’s gorgeous.

To be fair, there’s a handful of games that claim to be the first announced title on the currently unannounced Nintendo Switch successor, but the game that is the subject of today’s story at least appears to be one of the first officially confirmed.

Check out the Yooka-Replayee announcement trailer below!

The potential Nintendo Switch 2 game in question is Yooka-Replayee, a remaster of the 2017 platformer from Playtonic Games. The original Yooka-Laylee was developed following a successful Kickstarter campaign and was made by some of the creators of the iconic N64 game from Rare, Banjo-Kazooie.

“Embark on an epic open-world 3D platforming collectathon adventure with Yooka and Laylee! The search for Pagies starts anew in Yooka-Replaylee, the enhanced definitive version of the beloved indie darling with all new challenges, secrets, mechanics, and accessibility options,” reads the description of the game.

Yooka-Replayee was announced with a glorious trailer and at the very end of said trailer it confirmed the platforms PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. It also mentioned Nintendo but interestingly, not Nintendo Switch.

The non-mention of Nintendo Switch directly has led some to believe that Yooka-Replayee will be released on the Nintendo Switch 2 (currently not the confirmed name), otherwise, why would the trailer simply say Nintendo?

“Nintendo WHAT though?” said spoookym, replying to a tweet from Playtonic.

“Why just a vague Nintendo?” asked NicholasArecco.

“Even third-party developers have started to hype up the Switch 2. It's gonna be here sooner than we expect,” speculated VowedPrinciple. “I bet it's gonna be out early 2025 rather than late 2025.”

Obviously, at this time, it can still be considered as speculation but the fact that the trailer refused to mention Nintendo Switch and just Nintendo, it looks like Yooka-Replayee will be arriving on the yet-to-be-announced console in 2025.

Yooka-Replaylee does not have a release date, yet.
