Despite being one of the oldest franchises in video game history, many of The Legend of Zelda entries have been left firmly in the past whilst others have received the remaster and remake treatment.

In recent years, as part of Nintendo’s aim to bring older titles to the forefront with its Classics collection, many The Legend of Zelda titles are available to play on the Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 respectively.

For example, having a Nintendo Switch Online subscription + Expansion Pack will give you access to all of the Zelda titles currently available on the NES, SNES, Game Boy, Game Boy Advance, Nintendo 64, and GameCube. However, with entries such as Twilight Princess, Phantom Hourglass, and A Link Between Worlds not being available on the Nintendo Switch 2, 2026 may just see them finally arrive.

That is because this year will mark the 40th anniversary of the launch of The Legend of Zelda, the first ever entry in the long-running franchise.

As a result, Nintendo could have some big plans under its sleeves which could see some of our favourite instalments get that long-awaited remaster.

Not only that but with rumours that several big Nintendo games would be receiving next-gen updates in 2026, will two of the biggest The Legend of Zelda games finally be getting the love that they deserve?

Getting the Remaster It Deserves

Although this has not been officially confirmed by Nintendo, one Youtuber has recently given us a glimpse into what those long-awaited remasters could look like.

Courtesy of Henriko Magnifico Showcase, we can now see The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess in all of its 4K glory.

In the videos recently uploaded to their Youtube channel, we can see the progress in which this project is coming along and it is clear that Twilight Princess looks a whole lot different to what it did back in 2006.

With the description reading “cooking”, it is clear that this is just the beginning of Henriko Magnifico Showcase’s journey into bringing 4K to Twilight Princess and I, for one, am excited to see how it looks in the end.

“Incredible work as always, even Nintendo couldn't do it as well as you do,” one comment read.

“I've been praising your work since the first time I saw your work years ago, and since then, I couldn't stop praising and complimenting your work everywhere, especially on Twilight Princess.”

“Can't wait to experience your pack in the unofficial PC port!” Another said.

Now for Nintendo to feel the same inspiration and work on that official remaster…
