Legend Of Zelda fans divided over our next big remake

It's always something

The Legend of Zelda fans are divided over the series’ next big remake, following June’s release of the Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom’s Switch 2 ports.

Nintendo is no stranger to remaking old The Legend of Zelda games. The 3DS had some incredible ports of Ocarina of Time and Majora’s Mask, while the Switch got a remake of Link’s Awakening that proved to be popular.

Then there were the HD remasters of games like Skyward Sword, The Wind Waker, and Twilight Princess, which were also well received.

After this, it’s pretty certain that Nintendo will be looking to the next big remake. But fans haven’t settled on which game they want that to be.

“I would like a remake of OoT [Ocarina of Time] that has some of the scrapped beta stuff return,” writes a fan on the Zelda Reddit page. “I love OoT but it was definitely cut short.”

“I'd like to play the Zeldas on DS and 3DS,” writes another fan. “Dunno how practical it'd be on a Switch since those other handhelds had 2 screens that were vertically aligned, with the bottom one being a resistive touch screen.”

“I’d like to see them do something like the Link's Awakening remaster and try it with one of the 3D games,” a third added. “Something fairly faithful, but enhances both quality of life and visuals.”

We’re probably still a few years away from getting a brand new Zelda game, considering The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom is nearly a year old, and Tears of the Kingdom is just over two years old.

So in the meantime, a new remake or remaster would help to hold fans over until then. Perhaps we'll get Twilight Princess added to Nintendo Switch Online.

2026 will be the 40th anniversary of The Legend of Zelda series, so it’s highly likely we might get something around then.

But don’t get your hopes up too high, just in case nothing comes to fruition.
