While the release of GTA VI is well on track, Take-Two Interactive has temporarily cancelled a long-announced project.
In my opinion, despite selling like hot cakes since its launch in June 2025, the Nintendo Switch 2 does not have as many major first or third-party games as I thought it would. Saying that, it still hasn't stopped the Switch 2 from already out-selling the lifetime sales of the Wii U.
In fairness to the Nintendo Switch 2, third-party developers, especially, might still be getting used to the hardware and with the console still being less than a year old, I’m sure that aspect will change a lot by the time 2026 reaches its end.
However, perhaps one third-party game that would have given gamers more choice is Borderlands 4, published by 2K and developed by Gearbox Software. Borderlands 4 released in September 2025 on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.

“Whether taking on a raid boss with other players or free roaming the world in search of adventure, I sat there with a big, stupid grin stuck on my face for literal hours afterwards,” said GAMINGbible alumni James in his review.
“Any game that delivers out-and-out fun at the rate of Borderlands 4 deserves its flowers, and it lives up to the reputation that the previous games so carefully built.”

Where Is Borderlands 4 on the Nintendo 2?
2K announced back in July 2025 that Borderlands 4 is to be released on Nintendo Switch 2 in October that year. Yet, the game was never released in that month. In fact, it’s still not available on the hybrid console today. So, what’s going on?
Well, as reported by Variety, we now have our answer to the AWOL port of Borderlands 4. In a nutshell, the development of the game for the Nintendo Switch 2 has paused.
2K parent company Take-Two Interactive confirmed during a recent earnings call that it has “made the difficult decision to pause development” of Borderlands 4.
Thankfully, it’s important to note that it’s been “paused” and not cancelled.
The reason given for the delay of Borderlands 4 on the Nintendo Switch 2 is to ensure “quality post-launch content for players” on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
No date was given as to when Borderlands 4 will arrive on the Nintendo Switch 2, but hopefully, it will be well worth the wait.
