Fans hopeful for a new reveal for The Elder Scrolls VI have roasted Bethesda’s latest trailer dropped this week.
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim was first released in 2011 on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, and instantly became regarded as one of the best fantasy RPGs of all time. From that moment forth, Bethesda not only knew it had a winner but also a cash cow that would span generations.
To be fair, Skyrim is arguably the best entry in The Elder Scrolls series. However, I’ll always lean towards 2006’s The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, which received an awesome remaster earlier this year.
Skyrim Has Been Re-Released, Again!
Since 2011, Skyrim has been released on every console generation, including the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. Now, the beloved fantasy RPG is out on the Nintendo Switch 2.
The new Nintendo Switch 2 version of Skyrim has enhanced resolution and framerate, improved DLSS anti-aliasing, motion control and mouse support. Best of all, if you own the Anniversary Edition, it’s a free upgrade from the original Switch to this. For owners of the regular base game, the upgrade is £17.99/$19.99.
Advert
To be fair to Bethesda, this is a nice port to see, despite the studio releasing Skyrim for what feels like the billionth time. Some of those who upgrade won't pay a penny, unlike some first-party Switch 2 Editions.
Still, with the internet being the internet, trolls will be trolls, and plenty of people are angry that The Elder Scrolls VI still hasn't surfaced.

“I am 100% convinced Todd Howard checked this subreddit and decided to troll us,” said Reddit user RealManurk, reacting to a new trailer.
“I thought this was a joke, but wow, there it is,” exclaimed Blakerdavison.
“We got Skyrim 12 times before The Elder Scrolls VI,” joked Famous_Tadpole1637.
“I mean. The Switch 2 port was inevitable. Awkward timing with all the people assuming that the statue was related to The Elder Scrolls,” replied rishiak88.
“Like Todd said, they’ll keep re-releasing this game as long as y'all keep buying it. It’s genius tbh, basically free money at this point,” claimed BlackFleetCaptain, making a very valid point.
Hopefully Bethesda will tease The Elder Scrolls VI again either at The Game Awards or during Summer Game Fest in 2026. Wishful thinking, I know, but we have been waiting since 2018 with its original E3 reveal.
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is out now on just about every platform imaginable, and it’s included with an Xbox Game Pass subscription at no extra cost.
