Bethesda has made yet another Skyrim-shaped announcement. And although the 2011 RPG is about to get yet another release, the brand-new trailer announcing it did shed some light on the future of the franchise.
If you look closely enough, that is. Shared on the official Bethesda Softworks Youtube channel, it has finally been announced that The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim has arrived to the Nintendo Switch 2.
First released way back in 2011, Skyrim has now made it to every platform available thanks to the work of Todd Howard but as you can imagine, fans were hoping that the announcement would be dedicated more to the future of the franchise.
That is because, despite a lack of updates, The Elder Scrolls VI is in development at Bethesda after first being announced back in 2018.
Advert
However, with just a brief teaser trailer to show that it exists at all, fans have been left feeling disappointed over the years, especially as no release window has been revealed.
Luckily, the latest Skyrim trailer may have just shed some light on that potential release window and it would not be surprising for Bethesda to make the announcement in the most obscure way possible.

In the trailer, an elf can be seen recommending ways to save Christmas by suggesting that they release The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim on the Nintendo Switch 2.
After his suggestion is gleefully accepted by Santa, a bar appears above his head and it is one that all Skyrim players will recognise.
The elf’s speech is raised from 26 to 27 and fans over on r/TESVI believe that this may be Bethesda’s way of telling us that the next instalment in The Elder Scrolls franchise will be released in 2027.
The Most Plausible Theory so Far
It would definitely make sense considering that it is unlikely The Elder Scrolls VI will launch in less than a year, especially as we have had no updates or trailers, and so the year after would not be too far-fetched.
“Honestly, this is actually plausible,” one comment read.
Another agreed, adding, “I'm not usually one to believe the theories but this one feels right and might mean they are going to show something at TGAs.
"I don't think they'd be dropping clues if there wasn't an announcement.
"Also lines up with the clue that Todd said if GTA 6 was delayed it could be out after TES6.”
As far as bizarre theories go, this one is definitely up there but The Elder Scrolls VI fans will take anything at this point.
