During this month’s Nintendo Switch 2 livestream, it was revealed that Cyberpunk 2077 would be arriving to Nintendo’s next handheld and better yet, it was set to arrive looking better than it ever has before.

That is thanks to brand-new tech which will allow Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition to become one of the most advanced ports for the Nintendo Switch 2 when it releases later this year.

In the meantime, check out the Cyberpunk 2077 next-gen update launch trailer below!

So, what is that tech you may ask?

Well, it has been confirmed by CD Projekt RED that Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition on Nintendo Switch 2 will feature Nvidia’s deep learning super sampling technology, otherwise known as DLSS.

Launching alongside the console on 5 June, the DLSS will allow Cyberpunk 2077 to run even better on what would usually be considered “weaker” technology, especially if the game pushes the boundaries when it comes to graphics.

In an interview with Digital Foundry, CD Projekt RED had the following to say about the new tech: “We’re using a version of DLSS available for Nintendo Switch 2 hardware, powered by Nvidia’s Tensor cores…

“The game utilises DLSS in all four modes: in handheld and docked, and the performance and quality variations of each.”

Additionally, the developers later revealed to Metro that the Cyberpunk 2077 Nintendo Switch 2 port had been handled in-house, unlike The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.

Although the Nintendo Switch 2 is set to be a lot more powerful than its predecessor, it will still not be able to reach the capabilities of the PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X which means that the use of DLSS will help performance considerably.

It also goes to show how far Cyberpunk 2077 has come since it was first launched in an almost unplayable state back in 2020.

Thanks to the dedication of CD Projekt RED, which still continues to this day, the RPG has gone on to become one of the best in the genre and thanks to its arrival on the Nintendo Switch 2, it aims to continue growing in popularity.
