Baldur’s Gate 3 fans will no doubt be hoping that its arrival on Nintendo Switch 2 might be sooner rather than later.
Developed and published by Larian Studios, when Baldur’s Gate 3 arrived in 2023, it’s fair to say that it had taken the video game community by storm and likely introduced gamers to the mechanics of the legendary tabletop RPG, Dungeons & Dragons, for the very first time.
“Baldur’s Gate 3 is a story-rich, party-based RPG set in the universe of Dungeons & Dragons, where your choices shape a tale of fellowship and betrayal, survival and sacrifice, and the lure of absolute power,” reads the synopsis of the game.
“Gather your party and return to the Forgotten Realms in a tale of fellowship and betrayal, sacrifice and survival, and the lure of absolute power. Mysterious abilities are awakening inside you, drawn from a mind flayer parasite planted in your brain. Resist, and turn darkness against itself. Or embrace corruption and become ultimate evil.”

Unfortunately, those who were hoping that Larian Studios would begin work on Baldur’s Gate 4 will be disappointed to know that the developer will not be working on the next game.
Instead, it wants to create a new IP. If Baldur’s Gate 4 were to happen (and given its success, hopefully, it will), it will most likely be handled by a new studio. Personally, I’d love to see the original BioWare developers work on the next game.

Following the launch of the Nintendo Switch 2 on 2 June 2025, it’s already on track to become one of Nintendo’s most popular consoles. As reported by CNBC, Nintendo has projected that the console will sell 19 million units by the end of the fiscal year in March 2026.

The Nintendo Switch 2 has benefited from first-party exclusives such as Mario Kart World and Donkey Kong Bananza, with the likes of Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment and Metroid Prime 4: Beyond on the horizon.
Will Baldur's Gate 3 arrive on Nintendo Switch 2?
However, it’s arguably the wealth of quality third-party titles that have been carrying much of the Nintendo Switch 2's weight with fantastic games such as Hollow Knight: Silksong, Hades II, Split Fiction and Street Fighter 6, to name a few.
The third-party success will hopefully leave the door wide open for others to make its mark on the Nintendo Switch 2, such as the aforementioned Baldur’s Gate 3, Red Dead Redemption 2, and perhaps even Elden Ring, one day.

Some of the mentions above could be wishful thinking, but if titles such as Baldur’s Gate 3 were to arrive on the Nintendo Switch 2, it could be a perfect game to play on the go. With the success that the console has already garnered, now seems as good a time as any.
Baldur’s Gate 3 is currently available on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
