Fans had almost given up hope, but thankfully, all that waiting has paid off.

After months of speculation, the summer update for Hogwarts Legacy has been announced. More surprisingly, the update drops next week.

Despite rumours that the update wouldn't offer much in the way of new features, it seems the developers have decided to treat us anyway.

One of the most notable aspects of this summer update is photo mode, an option that the fandom has been crying out for since the game launched.

One Twitter user gleefully posted, "OMG!!!! A PHOTO MODE!!!??? THANK YOU!" Such is the excitement surrounding this feature alone.

But what else is new?

Alongside the highly requested photo mode, students returning to Hogwarts will also receive an Azkaban inspired outfit, an onyx Hippogriff, and the 'Haunted Hogsmeade' DLC PlayStation users have had since day one.

Not all players are so happy with the update though.

"Not gonna lie, I thought it would be a liiiittle bit more to keep us busy in the world, but it's still nice," commented Twitter user @gruene_Feder before adding, "At the same time, I can't help to feel a little disappointed."

Given how popular the Harry Potter adventure still is, it makes sense that fans are longing for something truly unique and new rather than a couple of features, and a quest previously limited to the PS version.

Nevertheless, while not a juicy update, it's still delivered more than some expected.

Furthermore, we've already had the sequel all but confirmed for one console at least, which is happy news indeed.

For the witches and wizards heading back for another term at Hogwarts, you have to wait just a little longer yet; the update doesn't go live until 6 June.

Still, it's only over a week away, which isn't long to wait at all.
