With the news that Red Dead Redemption’s recent PC port will cost the same amount as a brand-new game, fans are starting to feel concerned over the future of Rockstar’s pricing.

Yesterday finally saw Red Dead Redemption head to PC via Steam and Epic Games for the first time.

Check out the first official trailer for Grand Theft Auto VI below!

First released back in 2010 for the Xbox and PlayStation 3, Red Dead Redemption gradually headed to the Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 in later years but this is the first time that PC gamers will be able to get in on the action.

Boosting a number of upgrades and performances, this will be an exciting time for fans of the Rockstar series but its accompanying price tag has left some players feeling concerned.

Red Dead Redemption will cost $49.99/£39.99 on PC, which may not be as much as a new release, but is still pretty expensive considering that the game is fourteen years old.

However, the biggest cause of concern is what this price point will mean for Grand Theft Auto VI when it is finally released next year.

If a standard game release is around £60 and a Rockstar remake is already £40, what will that mean for the most anticipated game of all time?

During a discussion about Red Dead Redemption over on r/gamingnews, talk soon turned to GTA VI.

“Reddit is going to lose its mind when GTA6 comes out and is just littered with even more microtransactions and nonsense,” the top comment read.

Up until now, it is only Grand Theft Auto Online that has included microtransactions so it is doubtful that GTA VI itself will.

However, we can pretty much assume that this trend will continue with the arrival of its online component.

“I'm ready to wage my life that GTA VI's story will be worse than V's (which isn't anything to write home about from the guys who gave us GTA 4, RDR (both of them), Vice City, SA...), and will be only there to railroad players into GTA Online 2, which will be absolutely filled to the asshole with microtransactions,” another comment read.

It has not yet been confirmed what Grand Theft Auto VI’s price tag will be but despite all of the concern, we can probably still expect it to be one of the best-selling games of all time.
