With Grand Theft Auto VI cementing itself as one of the most anticipated game releases of all time, it is no wonder that fans are eager to get stuck into Rockstar’s latest release.
However, after already being faced with one delay, said fans are concerned that there may be another in the future and this recent discovery has done nothing to reassure them.
First, let us rewind a little.
It has been almost 15-years since the latest Grand Theft Auto entry, Grand Theft Auto V, was released and so it is safe to say that Grand Theft Auto VI has been in development for quite some time.

However, it was not until December 2023 that fans were treated to their first glimpse of the game when Rockstar released the first official GTA VI trailer which, as you can imagine, almost broke the internet.
That being said, hope soon died once again when it took Rockstar until May 2025 to release the second official trailer and not only that, this came after the company revealed that the Grand Theft Auto VI release date had been postponed from Fall 2025 to 26 May 2026.
As of right now, that release date is still relevant but according to a recent discovery, there may already be some changes behind the scenes.
Spotted by JaivianCraft over on r/GTA6, when navigating to Grand Theft Auto VI on the PlayStation Store, you can see that the release date has been changed from 26/05/26 to 25/05/26.

“The date for GTA VI changed?” They asked.
“On the Playstation Store it got updated to May 25th, 2026 at 6PM EDT. You can go see for yourself.”
However, despite raising fan’s blood pressure, it was not long before a fellow user worked it out.
“This is wrong, OP is most likely just looking at a different storefront,” user Tomrodders explained, alongside their own screenshot.

“If I look at the New Zealand PS Store, it will say 25th at 1PM BST and if I look at the UK store, it will say 26th at midnight.
It’s all just 12am local to the timezone you’re looking at.”
The good news is that the release date for GTA VI has seemingly not been changed but the bad news is that your New Zealand friends will be diving in a lot earlier than you.
