Elden Ring has a secret pause feature you definitely missed

You can pause Elden Ring, I repeat, you can pause Elden Ring

The hype surrounding Elden Ring: Shadow Of The Erdtree is bringing loads of new players to the game, meaning it’s more important ever to share its secret pause menu.

FromSoftware games are almost always bangers, even Dark Souls 2 is brilliant if you give it a fair chance, but it looks like Elden Ring: Shadow Of The Erdtree will be the developers magnum opus.

Check out the latest trailer for the Elden Ring expansion below, which sheds some light on the DLCs story

Now, we all know soulsborne titles are challenging. Half the fun is fighting colossal bosses and navigating treacherous areas, making those narrow victories when you’re out of healing items all the more sweeter.

Adding to that difficulty, you can never pause in FromSoftware’s games. Personally I think this is fine, as having to make decisions on the fly without opportunity to pause and think about your next move adds to the challenge, but speaking from experience I’d have loved the option to pause the Godfrey fight when I heard the postman at the door.

Fortunately, there is a pause menu in Elden Ring, you just have to jump through a few more hoops than merely pressing the start button.

If you hit start, go to your inventory, hit the “help” button and select “menu explanation,” this will pause the game for you.

Of course it won’t work if you’re playing with other players, but if you’re just exploring the Lands Between by yourself you can do this anytime you wish, and there are no repercussions for doing so either.

With Elden Ring: Shadow Of The Erdtree fast approaching, I’d say it’s vital for new and even old players to be aware of this feature, as it might just save you from a terrible boss run-back, or be the difference between a dub or a loss.
