Batman Arkham Origins is one of the best Batman: Arkham games, and this stunning remaster proves it.

Despite not being developed by Rocksteady Studios but taking place in the Arkhamverse, Batman: Arkham Origins is a fantastic story about the caped crusader’s early years.

The next Arkham game will be Batman: Arkham Shadow, the trailer of which you can see below

The story follows a young, impatient Batman, this time voiced by Roger Craig Smith who’ll be returning for Batman: Arkham Shadow, on a mission to stop Bane and The Joker from destroying his city.

It doesn’t quite get the love it deserves due to comparisons with Batman: Arkham Asylum and Batman: Arkham City, a shame because I think it’s severely underrated, however that’s a story for another article.

If you’ve played the game on PC or are considering putting on the cowl and cape for the first time, there’s now a gorgeous remaster mod you can download that vastly improves the game’s visuals.

You can find it on moddb called Arkham Origins Gotham Enhanced, which remakes a grand total of 705 in-game assets.

This mod mostly updates the textures to be more in-line with a modern release, and when you put the whole thing together it significantly improves the game’s dated visuals.

To the untrained eye there might not be any noticeable differences at first, but when you get into the cutscenes and start gliding around Gotham City you can tell its leagues ahead of the original release.

No changes have been made to the gameplay, but then again you don’t really need to as the combat and traversal are pretty much the same as they’ve always been in the Arkhamverse games.

While it’s not the official remake or remaster Batman: Arkham Origins deserves, it’s certainly the one it needs, and you can download it for free right now.
