Assassin's Creed Nebula finally delivering an Aztec Empire setting

It's going to be a whole new world

Assassin’s Creed has spanned incredible empires, taking its players across the globe and time, yet there are still plenty of locations the franchise has yet to touch. One being the Aztec Empire. Fortunately, it seems that Ubisoft is going to change that in Assassin’s Creed Codename Nebula.

An Aztec Empire seems a prime location for the tales of such a series, with the rich culture, breathtaking locations, and mythology lending itself to expanding upon already elaborate AC lore. We could ask why this setting hasn’t been picked sooner…

Just look how stunning locations are in Assassin's Creed Mirage!

Also said to be joining this setting for Nebula is the Mediterranean and India, with Insider Gaming reporting that the game will be a single-player experience, much like previous games. What is more, Nebula is said to be in its prototype stages as of July 2023. Although there’s still a long way to go before we see any sign of a reveal and/or preview, it’s still comforting to know that this project is already taking shape.

This is just one of several new AC games in the works, as there’s also AC Red and AC Hexe which has been capturing the imagination of the fandom. Again, all we have are rumours, however, it would seem that AC Red is going to take the franchise into the future, a move fans have hailed as a “great” decision.

Ubisoft is really sticking its fingers into a lot of pies right now, as it's not only working on an array of AC titles but also on Skull and Bones, a game that’s been delayed an obscene amount of times. Add to this a couple of FarCry projects, as well as Prince of Persia, and there’s a lot of gaming to be had once all these titles launch… whenever that will be. To see a full breakdown of what Ubisoft has in the works, head to ye ol’ rusty Reddit to get the details.

All we can do now is try to weather this long ride while remaining hopeful that the franchise will head in the right direction after being steered back on course by AC Mirage.
