The heavily rumoured Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag remake has reportedly been delayed after an announced date surfaced.

The Assassin’s Creed series made its debut in 2007 on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Sure, the series hasn't put out banger after banger every time, but for the most part, it’s fair to say that Assassin’s Creed fans have been eating well over the years.

If you were to ask devoted Assassin’s Creed fans what their top three games in the series are, there’s a good chance that any of the four games starring the beloved and charismatic Ezio Auditore da Firenze will be in that list. However, there is another.

In 2013, we were treated to Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, starring Edward Kenway, a beloved and charismatic character in his own right. This entry in the series had us exploring the seas, living the best pirate life, and even interacting with legendary and historic pirates, such as the infamous Black Beard.

Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag is an amazing game, so with rumblings that Ubisoft is planning to remake it from the ground up on modern consoles, it’s exciting news for fans across the world.

It’s worth keeping in mind that Ubisoft hasn't announced this remake, but with all the alleged leaks, fans are convinced there's no smoke without fire.

Assassin’s Creed IV Remake Could've Been Announced Very Soon!

As reported by Tom Henderson at Insider Gaming, it’s claimed that Ubisoft intended to announce this February that the Assassin’s Creed IV remake had gone gold.

However, it sounds like that announcement has been postponed, following Ubisoft's cancellation of six games, including the troubled Prince of Persia: Sands of Time remake.

Ubisoft reportedly hoped that the Assassin’s Creed IV remake would be released on 19 March 2026, but it has now likely been delayed up to a year.

The original plan for the Black Flag Remake was to launch March 19th as a digital only release.

The game was planned to go gold in the first week of Feb.

“I am still in denial that it might be released in March,” said Reddit user Objective_Love_6843.

“Look what they took from us,” exclaimed Greatsnes. “Hopefully, the delay makes it even better.”

“I can’t imagine being a developer on a game and to make it that deep into development just to have your game cancelled,” replied Mrellenwood, referring to the mass Ubisoft cancellations. “Definitely has to be a grossly disappointing and depressing experience.”

Hopefully, the delay for the rumoured Assassin’s Creed IV remake is for the better. When we learn more, we’ll be sure to update you right away.
