Ubisoft and Xbox have made six Assassin’s Creed games free to play, but only for a limited time, so be sure to play them sooner rather than later.
No question, Assassin’s Creed is one of Ubisoft’s most popular properties. In fact, many would say that it is its most popular franchise, ever since its inception in 2007 on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
In 2014, with the release of Assassin’s Creed Unity (which recently benefited from a free new-gen update), the seeds were planted by implementing RPG levelling up mechanics, and now, in its most recent entry, Assassin’s Creed Shadows, can very much be considered an open-world, action RPG series.
Today, Xbox has announced that you can play six of what could be considered some of the best games in the Assassin’s Creed series.
It includes the aforementioned Assassin’s Creed Unity, as well as Assassin’s Creed Syndicate, Assassin’s Creed Origins, Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla and Assassin’s Creed Mirage.
You do not need an Xbox Game Pass subscription. Everyone with an Xbox and an internet connection can play them. Simply visit the Assassin’s Creed game of your choosing via your Xbox on the store and press download. You can even visit Xbox.com if you prefer.

Technically, you can complete all but one during the Free Play Day Weekend; however, unless you possess the superpower of DC’s The Flash, that will be impossible.
Furthermore, while the games in the promotion are technically playable from start to finish, Assassin’s Creed Mirage is restricted to two hours.
No, at least not for free. You can play any of these Assassin’s Creed games from now until Monday, 6 April 2026, for free. That being said, all the games in this Free Play Day Weekend are currently discounted, except Assassin’s Creed Valhalla and Assassin’s Creed Mirage.
If you do decide to purchase any of these games, both your save progress and earned achievements will carry over. Happy days!
