Assassin's Creed free download called 'one of the most welcome surprises I've ever witnessed'

This is so satisfying; we have nothing but praise for Ubisoft

When a fandom and a publisher come together in harmony, the world rights itself in an instant; rainbows appear, the heat of the sun warms your skin, and all your worries just melt away. Okay, so maybe it’s not that idyllic, but when fans witness a highly requested change to a game in action, it becomes a “most welcome” surprise.

Having started out as a fan-made mod to correct an obvious miss by Ubisoft in the parkour mechanics of Assassin’s Creed Mirage, the patch that Ubisoft introduced ensured that the cries of the fans didn’t fall on deaf ears. It’s nothing short of impressive, and goes to show how much progress can be made when everyone works together.

“Feeling heard or seen, let alone being taken into account, is something no other studio has managed to provide to us for years, yet you [Ubisoft Bordeaux] delivered,” posted one grateful gamer. “The meaning of this spans further than just the patch itself, thank you, Bordeaux.”

Building upon this thanks, another AC fan added, “The fact that Ubisoft Bordeaux saw a mod people liked, thought it would make the game more fun for the parkour community, and implemented it post-launch brought so much goodwill. This one change made Ubisoft Bordeaux extremely appreciated in the community; you can tell they really care about fans of the older games.”

Have you experience Assassin's Creed Nexus VR yet?

Now that you can parkour with the best of them, the fluidity feeling much more authentic, it’s time that Ubisoft listens to the fans eager for a Roman Empire location. It doesn’t have to be now, just that it should happen at some point before the franchise draws to an end (assuming it ever does).

For now, though, fans can move with the grace of a cat, either during a quest or simply because they want to have a little fun while exploring.
