Assassin’s Creed Shadows has received a surprise free update, adding some much-needed content fans have been requesting for months.
When Ubisoft released Assassin’s Creed Shadows earlier this year, there were still quite a few quality-of-life features that players felt could be added to improve the overall experience.
Ubisoft has been dedicated to adding these features to improve the game over time, and Assassin’s Creed Shadows’ latest patch adds in a few more that fans have been requesting for months.
Patch 1.1.1 for Assassin’s Creed Shadows increases the level cap to 100, giving you more versatility in building and customising your builds. It also includes new hideout upgrades, with 20 new enhancements being added overall that also bring some gameplay improvements.

This includes a much-needed quality of life feature: the ability to advance the time of day by meditating. Considering you were previously able to change the season but not the time of day, it’s good to see that Ubisoft has now given you the option to do both.
Other hideout improvements include a Level 4 study allowing scouts to reveal both Viewpoints and Safehouses, and Level 4 Kakurega will also reveal an entire province automatically once you’ve cleared all viewpoints within that region.
Two new quality tiers for your gear have also been added: Mythic and Artifact. These can be acquired by leveling up the Forge to Level 6.
Speaking of gear, Ezio's armour from Assassin's Creed 2 has also returned as a bonus collectible.

Meanwhile, the latest patch also includes support for The Claws of Awaji expansion, which releases next week, as well as a new quest, Go With The Bo.
“A new threat rises from across Osaka Bay as rumors surface of a hidden blade wielding shinobi, and of a long-lost relic,” reads Ubisoft’s description for The Claws of Awaji. “Naoe and Yasuke journey to a new land in search of answers, but find themselves surrounded by danger, ensnared in the Claws of Awaji.”
Meanwhile, Go With The Bo allows you to “join Junjiro in his quest to meet a legendary Bo Master and learn more about the Bo staff, a dynamic new weapon type perfectly suited to Naoe's acrobatic fighting style. Upon finishing the quest, you will receive a Bo to use across your adventures.”
Go With The Bo will be available for free for all Assassin’s Creed Shadows players. The Claws of Awaji will be free for players who pre-ordered the game, and sold as separate DLC for everyone else. Both will be available on 16th September.
