Pedro Pascal is an incredibly popular guy right now. The actor kicked off the year by dazzling us all in HBO’s The Last of Us. Now, he’s back as Din Djarin in The Mandalorian. The undisputed king of playing a father figure who must transport his kid through an apocalyptic landscape.
With just a couple episodes of The Mandalorian’s third season left to air, it awaits to be seen if we’ll actually see Pedro’s face in the show again. I sure hope so. If Bo-Katan can ‘walk both worlds’, it seems a little unfair that Din isn’t able to. What we know for certain is that Pedro will reprise the role of Joel in The Last of Us’ second season. The show will, as suspected, adapt Naughty Dog’s The Last of Us Part II and will do so across several seasons. If you are a Pedro superfan, did you know that the actor changed his name in tribute to his late mother?
Next up on the Star Wars roster is Ahsoka. Take a look at the brand new trailer below. The series is set to premiere in August.
As reported by our friends at UNILAD, the Chilean-American actor was born José Pedro Balmaceda Pascal. In the early stages of his career, he opted to go by Pedro Balmaceda before later adopting the moniker we know, Pedro Pascal. In an interview with Esquire, Pedro revealed that the professional name change was a decision prompted by his late mother’s suicide.

The actor’s mother passed away in 2000 when Pedro was aged just 24 years old. He explained to Esquire that he wanted to use Pascal to remember his mother, plus “Americans [had] such a hard time pronouncing” Balmaceda. In recent days, actress Sarah Paulson revealed that she helped Pedro financially during this time. “He’s talked about this publicly, but there were times when I would give him my per diem from a job I was working on so that he could have money to feed himself,” she said.
“You just want him to succeed,” she continued. “And that to me, I feel like, is the sign of a major movie star.” Well, he’s certainly succeeded now.
