While we wait for the next installment, Mass Effect fans can now enjoy a brand new collaboration in No Man’s Sky.

No Man’s Sky has continued to prove that it’s the game that keeps on giving. Nine years after its disastrous launch, the game is still getting regular updates with fresh content and new features.

The most recent of these updates was the Breach update which launched in October, which leaned into the ship building mechanics that were added in the Voyagers update.

Now, Hello Games has teamed up with Electronic Arts to introduce Mass Effect’s SSV Normandy SR1 to the world of No Man’s Sky.

The Normandy was added as part of the new Beachhead expedition last week, a sort-of mission experience that is shared by the No Man’s Sky community for a limited time. The update coincided with N7 Day, a day fans dedicate to celebrating and appreciating the Mass Effect series.

As Hello Games boss Sean Murray explains on X (formerly Twitter): “We remain THE BIGGEST Mass Effect fans and we I can't describe how happy this makes us.”

Quite interesting if you’re a Mass Effect fan, but I’m sure we’re all really just waiting for that next game announcement.

What's next for Mass Effect?

As far as the next Mass Effect rumours go, an N7 Day post by BioWare has hinted at some potential plot details for the upcoming sequel. The post hints at one word: Krogan.

It seems pretty obvious that BioWare is cooking up something here. Perhaps a game that depicts the Krogan Rebellion. Or will at least feature them as a primary faction in the next game.

It’s still allegedly a ways off for now though. BioWare’s last game was Dragon Age: The Veilguard which came out back in October 2024. It seems the developer is now fully focused on Mass Effect 5, but it could still be a few years away.

On the other hand, a Mass Effect television series is also in the works at Amazon Studios. The series is being worked on by the same creative team as the Fallout TV series, and thus many fans are excited to see what this may mean for the quality of the series.

Fallout, after all, was praised for its writing, set and prop design, and worldbuilding which ended up being rather authentic to the world of the games. So there’s hope that the same may occur for Mass Effect.
