Hello Games’ Sean Murray isn’t one to break tradition, taking to social media to seemingly tease No Man’s Sky’s next update.
This year, No Man’s Sky is celebrating its 10th anniversary, with the acclaimed survival title showing no signs of slowing its pace.
The game is constantly being updated with several major content drops having landed already in 2026, including the likes of Remnant and Xeno Arena.
One of Murray’s traditions is to tease an update via social media using an emoji before it’s later confirmed to the public.

He’s been doing so for years with many, many updates having been announced a number of days after Murray began posting strange emojis.
The salvage-focused Remnant update, for example, was teased using the emoji showing a hi-vis vest, normally worn by labourers.
In recent days, Murray has seemingly been counting down (or up) using the bee emoji.

Murray originally posted just one bee emoji before posting three more a day later.
It seems pretty likely that this is in reference to the game’s next update. What that entails though, is anyone’s guess.
“Sentinels are like bees! They swarm. Are the Sentinels going to swarm us everywhere we go?” asked one player.
“We can finally turn into other species?” said another.
“I love the creativity of your updates, but I do feel a little trolled. First there’s space sanitation worked, and then Pokémon, and now … who knows? Gardening and pollination?” read one comment.
If these emojis are indeed referencing an update, hopefully it’ll be announced in the coming days or perhaps even at Summer Game Fest.
GAMINGbible had the opportunity to catch up with Murray at the recent BAFTA Games Awards, where No Man’s Sky took home the prize for Best Evolving Game.
“It's a joy to work on something where you've got a community who loves it, you know, and who are really responsive to it and that we can, you know, turn up and win awards and things like that. That's fun,” Sean said.
“Who knows what the future holds for us? It's really driven by the community and also by the team. If the team wants to keep doing things and feels inspired to do things, then, you know, and we're enjoying it, then why not keep doing that?”
Don’t forget that Hello Games is working on an Earth-sized open world game, Light No Fire, alongside No Man’s Sky.
Very little has been said since the game was first announced in 2023. That’s no real surprise given how all in the whole team still seems to be with No Man’s Sky.
We’re grateful for the game’s ongoing vitality, but it’s perhaps at the expense of Light No Fire landing any time soon.
