No Man’s Sky and Starfield fans will want to check out this promising upcoming open-world action adventure.

Much like CD Projekt RED’s Cyberpunk 2077, which was released some years later, the story of Hello Games’ No Man’s Sky can be compared to the analogy of “to rise like a phoenix from the ashes.”

To say that No Man’s Sky launched in a bit of a state would be an understatement. There were broken promises, missing features and bugs galore. A far cry from what the game is today. Now, No Man’s Sky is one of the best sci-fi exploration games in its genre.

Perhaps the same could be said about Bethesda’s Starfield, a game once dubbed as “Skyrim in space”. Starfield was years in the making, but its launch wasn't the smoothest.

It may have fallen victim to overhype and unrealistic expectations; regardless, I believe that Starfield should have been a better game at launch. However, now, after many bug fixes and content updates, it arguably has the right to be compared to a sci-fi Skyrim.

That being said, if you’ve had your fill of No Man’s Sky and Starfield, and are on the lookout for something a little different, then the upcoming ATMOSFAR might be your intergalactic cup of tea. ATMOSFAR is playable on your lonesome or with friends.

ATMOSFAR Looks Like a Blast

“Uncover the fate of humanity’s final outpost as you survive and explore a thrilling world of floating islands and soaring beasts,” reads the synopsis of the game developed by Apog Labs and published by Shueisha Games.

“Brave the skies on your own or assemble a squadron of your friends as you scavenge scrap to engineer and upgrade flying vessels while bringing your airbase along for the journey.

“Travel through an open world of floating islands and aerial wonders. Discover how its airborne circumstances have shaped the creatures and biomes inhabiting it as you level up your piloting skills while navigating the skies.”

Gamers React to ATMOSFAR

“This looks great!” said Tadej in the comments section on YouTube for its reveal trailer.

“Hyped for this!” declared Sirmathays.

“Feels like a spiritual successor to No Man's Sky,” exclaimed vinzenzkopf6707.

“Looks awesome, great job! I actually would love to check this out,” replied TehNizzz.

ATMOSFAR does not have a confirmed release date at the time of writing, other than a tentative 2026 window. So it might be worth adding it to your Steam wishlist to be notified of its launch.
