Nintendo Switch Drops Latest Batch Of Free Mario Themed Goodies, Let’s-a Go

Nintendo has just dropped a new batch of free Super Mario downloads for all Switch and Switch 2 users to grab.
With 2026 being in the year of Super Mario’s 40th anniversary, Nintendo has marked the occasion with many new releases and celebrations.
In addition to the re-releases of Super Mario Galaxy 1+2 and Super Mario Bros. Wonder, the recently released The Super Mario Galaxy Movie has also made huge strides at the box office, becoming the highest-grossing film of the year so far.
If you’ve still got Mario fever, be sure to pick up these new free downloads for your Switch console courtesy of Nintendo.

Nintendo Switch Online users can now grab a new selection of Super Mario-related icons for their online profile.
Available from today, the new icons feature imagery from Super Mario Bros. Wonder, Super Mario 3D World, Super Mario Odyssey, and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.
This includes fun icons like Mario and Luigi in cat suits, Wario on a quad bike, and Daisy pointing to something that clearly interests her greatly.
There are also a wide assortment of frames and backgrounds which you can pick up while they’re available.
If you’d like to pick up these icons, they can be grabbed from the Nintendo Switch Online app on your Nintendo Switch or Switch 2 console.
Boot up your console, and find the Nintendo Switch Online app icon on the far left of the home screen. Once you’re in, go to Missions & Rewards to find the new icons.
The character icons are available for 10 Platinum Points each, whereas backgrounds and frames are only 5 Platinum Points each, so they’re a bit cheaper.
You can earn Platinum Points by performing certain actions using your Nintendo Switch Online subscription, such as playing specific Nintendo games online or accessing other apps available as part of your subscription.
While future Mario games haven’t been confirmed yet, it’s always safe to say that Nintendo is probably working on a few of them at any one time.
In particular, a new 3D Mario game has been rumoured to be in development for quite some time, with a potential reveal occurring this year and a speculated release late in 2026 or early 2027.
