This year marks the fifteenth anniversary of Assassin’s Creed and boy, hasn’t that come around fast? To celebrate, Ubisoft have announced that they’ll be unveiling the future of the franchise during a livestream in September. That hasn’t stopped fans from theorising what the next game might look like though - with theories predicting either an Aztec or Japanese setting. It turns out, neither of those things look to be true.
Check out the new trailer for upcoming RPG Where Winds Meet which gives off some serious Assassin’s Creed vibes.
A brand new leak suggests that the next game in the franchise is titled Assassin’s Creed Mirage after previous rumours claimed it was to be called Rift or Infinity. The latest leak comes from YouTuber j0nathan who further added that fans should expect the game to land some time between April and June 2023.

The YouTuber claims that the game will be set in ninth century Baghdad and will be going back to “basics.” Given how many rumours there have been about the next AC entry, you may be wondering if j0nathan’s claims hold much validity. Well as always, take this all with a pinch of salt but the claims were backed up by Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier - including the title Assassin’s Creed Mirage.
Schrier wrote, “A person familiar tells me parts of this new Assassin's Creed leak are true (such as the name and the other stuff Bloomberg has already reported: spring 23, Baghdad, back to AC basics) and other parts are not (‘multiple cities to explore’).” The Ubisoft Forward showcase is set for 10 September so we should get official word very soon.
