I hope you haven’t gotten too attached to any particular science fiction or legal drama shows on Netflix lately. As reported by Variety, it’s been confirmed that the streaming giant is cancelling two 2022 shows after just one season.

The shows in question are The Imperfects and Partner Track. The former debuted on the streaming platform less than two months ago (on 8 September) and followed the story of three young people who get turned into monsters, after a scientist decides that it’s a good idea to try experimenting with their DNA.

Take a look at the trailer for The Imperfects below.

Based on its audience score on Rotten Tomatoes, The Imperfects lived up to its name - at the time of writing, it has a rating of 63% (based on 318 scores). Even so, it’s still frustrating for fans who only got to see 10 episodes of the show before it was abruptly cancelled.

Partner Track premiered in late August, and stars Arden Cho (Teen Wolf) as Ingrid Yun - a lawyer wrestling with her dreams and morals as she climbs the partner track (roll credits) at a renowned law firm in New York. On Rotten Tomatoes, the first (and now, only) season has a middling 62% critic score, and the general audience was even less impressed, with a score of 54%.

Despite neither of the shows blowing everyone away, both of them, according to Variety, spent three weeks in the Netflix Top 10, which is nothing to be sniffed at. That said, Netflix cancelling popular shows is seemingly becoming the norm - it was recently confirmed that Fate: The Winx Saga (the live-action adaptation of the 2000s animated Nickelodeon show, Winx Club) is being cancelled after two seasons. Frustratingly, this came after fans were left on a cliffhanger when season two concluded earlier this year.
