Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater drops gameplay trailer, and it looks great

The Konami title looks absolutely incredible

Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater has received a new trailer showing off what fans can expect from the series at the latest Xbox Games Showcase.

The trailer showed off various different takedowns that main character Naked Snake can do on enemies, how he can interact with the world around him, and what the spy needs to do to survive. Players will be given a multitude of different ways to interact with the world, and will be able to hunt for food to give them various different benefits in the world around them.

Take a look at the brand new trailer below.

This is the most in-depth showing Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater has received since it was first revealed at the 2023 PlayStation Showcase alongside the Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection, a collection of the first three games in the series. From interviews, we also know that the game will reuse voice actor clips from the original game, and we also know that series creator Hideo Kojima isn’t involved in the game at all, making this only the second Metal Gear game to be made without him, and the first single-player only title.

The game is currently undated, but a PlayStation promotional video that was published at the start of this year seemingly indicated that it was set for release this year, though the noticeable lack of a date here might indicate that it has been pushed back at some point over the course of the year.

Either way, the game looks brilliant. It's extremely nice to be back at classic Metal Gear after Konami tried to steer away from the traditional stealth that the series is known for, and hopefully this sets a precedent and sells well so that Konami leans further into the more stealth orientated gameplay that the series is known for.
