Finally, Konami has given us the long-awaited release date for Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater at long last and it’s arriving soon.

Announced by Konami in May 2023, Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater is a remake of Metal Gear Solid 3 which was released in 2004 on the PlayStation 2 (before arriving on other platforms), a game considered by many to not only be the best in the series but also one of the greatest of all time.

Check out the Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater trailer below!

During my interview with Metal Gear Solid Delta producer of the remake, Noriaki Okamura, he told me “I want to create a remake that honours the original in its purest form which means its story, characters, locations and more will remain true.”

“Rival nations are secretly developing weapons that could threaten the future of mankind,” reads the description of the game. “Deep in the jungle, an elite soldier must combine stealth with survival to infiltrate the enemy and stop a weapon of mass destruction from triggering the largest full-scale war the world has ever seen.”

Powered by Unreal Engine 5, Metal Gear Solid Delta is a faithful remake of the original game almost frame-by-frame and even uses the same voice-acting audio as the 2003 title, which means that the legendary David Hayter returns as Snake.

Metal Gear Solid Delta will not only have gorgeous new visuals but it’s also made several quality-of-life improvements to the gameplay, in particular when it comes to utilising stealth, a staple mechanic of this beloved series.

It remains to be seen whether this remake will be enough to not only please veteran fans of the series but also win over those totally new. But with Snake Eater being a prequel to the entire franchise, it’s a great place to start.

Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater will be released on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S on 28 August 2025.
