Marvel's 'I Am Groot' Series Finally Has A Release Date

Marvel have officially confirmed the release date for I Am Groot, and it's very soon - summer just got a lot brighter.

When you look at the whole array of Marvel movies and TV series on the horizon, which one are you the most excited for? We’re already midway through Phase Four of the MCU, and there’s loads to look forward to - from Thor: Love and Thunder releasing just next month, to the highly anticipated Black Panther sequel, Wakanda Forever, hitting cinemas in October. Oh, and there’s the She-Hulk series, too. Perhaps the less said about that one, the better.

Anyway, if you answered anything but the Disney+ series I Am Groot, I don’t know what to tell you, because I don’t think we’ve ever needed anything more in our lives than this. The animated show was first announced back in 2020, and although we’ve still not seen a proper trailer yet, an adorable poster has just been unveiled, alongside the show’s all-important release date.

Thor: Love and Thunder is set to hit cinemas on 8 July - take a look at the trailer below.

As revealed in a press release from Marvel, the series is going to follow “Baby Groot’s glory days growing up, and getting into trouble among the stars”. It’s not going to be a full Disney+ series in the traditional sense - it’s actually a bunch of shorts. Exactly how short these shorts will be is another matter, but either way, don’t expect full hour-long episodes of Baby Groot causing mischief, as incredible as that would be.

Vin Diesel will be reprising his role as Groot, who is currently the only confirmed character starring in the series, so there’s a chance it’s a full solo act - we’ll just have to wait and see. As ComicBook reports, Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn is one of the executive producers.

There’s really not long to wait for this one, anyway - I Am Groot is set to premiere exclusively on Disney+ on 10 August, so it’s only a couple of months away. Fingers crossed that we’ll see a trailer at some point soon, too - if the world needs anything right now, it’s more Baby Groot content.
