breaking news

It’s that time of the year again; Summer Game Fest is back, with Geoff Keighley having taken to the stage to unveil what’s on the way in the world of video games.
With these types of events, you should always expect the unexpected.
The announcements we predict we’ll see hardly ever turn up, and those that we do receive are ones most of us never saw coming.

That’s exactly the case with the game that’s just been unveiled.
Meta has officially announced Marvel’s Deadpool VR, a joint venture between Twisted Pixel and Oculus Studios in collaboration with Marvel Games - and yes, that means we’ve got a new Deadpool.
This time around, the merc with a mouth will not be played by the familiar Ryan Reynolds, nuh uh.
It’s another famous face that’ll be stepping into the suit: Neil Patrick Harris.

That’s right. How I Met Your Mother star Neil Patrick Harris is officially Deadpool.
My only disappointment is that I don’t have a VR headset because this game looks like an absolute banger.
Marvel’s Deadpool VR is set to launch exclusively on the Meta Quest 3 and 3S and will bring with it a new, original story.
“After being pulled through a portal to Mojoworld, Deadpool sees a chance to get rich—like really rich,” reads a press release.

“He signs a sketchy contract without reading any of the fine print and then it’s off to visit a bunch of locations from across the Marvel universe, battling against iconic (and not-so-iconic) villains.”
Ooo. Iconic villains, you say?

Players will be able to enjoy some immersive beat ‘em up action whilst also making use of Deadpool’s parkour skills.

In fact, there really are very few limits here.
“Punch someone while holding a grenade? Check. Take your recently exploded-off arm and throw it at the bad guys? Gross, but also check. Hold an enemy’s face into a spinning propeller? A bloody, but efficient, check,” adds the official release.
Dismemberment is encouraged, which is a sentence I never thought I’d write.
Marvel’s Deadpool VR is due to launch later this year, although an exact release date is yet to be announced.

Neil Patrick Harris is going to nail this role. God, I wish this one was coming to console.
