Marvel unveils wild new Avengers lineup

It's a bold new team

Marvel has revealed a brand-new Avengers team and it features every hero stepping up to the team.

This isn’t the Avengers as you know them, in fact, they’re not even working on behalf of the world or the side of good.

Marvel and Disney gave us a great look at what's to come in 2025 with this exciting trailer

You all know Captain America well, but perhaps not his variant, Captain Assyria who hails from an alternate universe and was corrupted by a supervillain.

This version of Cap is going to be leading a nefarious team to face off against X-Force.

As previewed in X-Force #5, Captain Assyria will be leading a team consisting of Iron Man, Fenris, Horus, and Storm.

This ‘evil Avengers’ will face off against the mutant team after crossing over from Earth-9105, a world led by an evil God called Sphinx.

Sphinx has changed the history of that world and this evil band of Avengers protects that version of Earth and that timeline.

Advert

It seems the one force (pardon the pun) strong enough to defeat Sphinx are mutants.

This creates a vendetta for Captain Assyria and his team of variant Avengers causing them to invade Earth-616 and go after X-Force.

There’s no doubt that this will end badly for one of the teams in the fight and it’s looking bad for the mutants given the Earth they inhabit already has a dislike for their kind since the Fall of X event.

This gives the new ‘evil Avengers’ a slight upper hand in the battle to come.

Advert

It was once thought that Captain Assyria was dead and his team shattered, however, comic books are fickle things and apparently they were simply hiding in the multiverse.

Could this story be a testing ground for a new Avengers Vs X-Men storyline? Perhaps one we could see play out in the MCU at some point?

You’ll have to read the latest issue of X-Force to find out what happened to these mutant heroes.
