The Last Of Us: Bella Ramsey is nervous about season 2's most controversial moment

I would be too, to be honest.

The Last of Us is officially getting a second season after resting on its laurels from three exceptional episodes of television. Nevertheless, there is a slight level of trepidation over bringing the twist of Part II to the small screen, and Ellie actor Bella Ramsey has said they're worried about how they'll have to navigate that shocking loss.

Light spoilers for The Last of Us Part II follow.

"I’m humbled, honoured, and frankly overwhelmed that so many people have tuned in and connected with our retelling of Joel and Ellie’s journey," said The Last of Us co-creator about the stratospheric success that the show has seen so far. Before the news had broken, fans were already casting characters in the second game, and an obvious favourite is Shannon Berry for the role of Abby. Though the show hasn't stuck to the original storyline in some parts, there's no avoiding what is going to happen to one of the central characters, and Ramsey is a little apprehensive themselves.

Speaking in an interview with Happy Sad Confused's Josh Horowitz, Ramsey expressed their excitement for Ellie and Dina's love story and grappling with the difficulty that Ellie has connecting to Joel following the discovery that her death would have led to the cure for the Cordyceps pandemic.

"I am nervous about it too, because I know what happens in the second game and I'm nervous about being potentially without Pedro for a while... It's gonna be really sad," they revealed. Pascal and Ramsey have been joined at the hip for the majority of the show's press tour and it's clear their real charisma shines through their performances as Joel and Ellie.

Horowitz also added that the second season means that Ramsey will be playing closer to their actual age - the actor is 19 years old now and will be 20 years old by the time that shooting is underway. "We were in a restaurant the other day and someone thought that I was genuinely 14, which is great because I'm meant to be like that for Ellie," they said. "It doesn't bother me at all."
