James Bond Is Returning Later This Year, Just Not How We Expected

007 is back

It looks like James Bond himself is making an unexpected return later this year, and we never could have seen this coming.

It’s an interesting time to be a fan of the James Bond franchise. While the new film from Denis Villeneuve is probably still a few years away, we’ve at least got IO Interactive’s 007 First Light coming next year.

Aside from that however, a new report has teased a new James Bond return for later this year. It’s something that we never could have anticipated, despite how obvious it seems now.

According to leaker SamLeakss, a James Bond collaboration is coming to Fortnite later this year.

The report claims that only the Aston Martin DB5, which made its Bond debut in 1964’s Goldfinger, has been confirmed so far. However, they also write that skins may be on the table.

If skins are to be featured, it’s interesting to consider which versions of the character could be included.

Daniel Craig’s Bond is the obvious answer, considering it’s the version modern audiences are most familiar with. However, Craig said goodbye to the role in 2021 with the release of No Time To Die, so it’d feel a bit weird to bring him back only four years later.

So it perhaps could be a classic version of the character like Roger Moore, Sean Connery, or even Timothy Dalton.

However, my money’s on Pierce Brosnan. He's the Bond a lot of us younger Bond fans grew up with, and October is also the 30th anniversary of GoldenEye, after all.

Or maybe we’ll end up getting six skins, one for every actor who’s played the character in live-action. Any excuse to let everyone know that George Lazenby is the superior Bond.

Nothing solid regarding these leaks has been confirmed yet, so we’ll hold out for official news regarding a potential James Bond crossover in Fortnite.
