A leaked casting wishlist for the next James Bond film has fans outraged, with one even saying “they’re not cooking”.

In February earlier this year, Eon Productions announced a joint venture with Amazon MGM Studios for the latter to manage the franchise rights to James Bond, with a particular focus on the film franchise.

Since then, it has been announced that a new film is in production with Denis Villeneuve directing.

Edward Berger, Edgar Wright, Paul King and Jonathan Nolan were also in the running to direct before Villeneuve was selected.

Now, a leaked casting wishlist has revealed the actors that Amazon has its sights on to play the titular 00 agent.

According to insiders confirmed by Variety, the producers are interested in casting a British actor under the age of 30. Tom Holland, Harris Dickinson, and Jacob Elordi are apparently at the top of the list.

It’s worth pointing out that Elordi is Australian, but that appears to not be a deal breaker for Amazon. There’s been a precedent set here, as George Lazenby who played Bond in On Her Majesty’s Secret Service is also an Aussie.

“Wow. They’re not cooking s*** with any of those choices,” wrote one fan on X (formerly Twitter) in response to the report.

“What a terrible list of actors you just listed,” wrote another.

“None of these. Big fan of both actors, but I literally won’t watch it,” a third comment wrote.

Other commenters have added their own picks for who should play Bond in the next film.

Common answers include Henry Cavill and Aaron Taylor-Johnson, who were both part of earlier rumours about who would play 007.

However, the actors are 42 and 35 respectively, which is a bit older than the age range Amazon is targeting.

Other answers include Aaron Pierre, Richard Madden, Tom Hardy, and Archie Renaux. Okay, that last one I could definitely be on board with.

It’ll probably be a while before we find out who is playing the next Bond on screen. With Villeneuve picked to direct, the studio is waiting for a script to be completed before casting the role.

In the meantime, however, we have 007 First Light, a video game from Hitman developer IO Interactive. In the game, Bond will played by Irish actor Patrick Gibson.
